My review is for Oscar Shek, hair treatment and haircut. My husband came for a haircut and I did a hair treatment.

I really wanted to find my husband a good hairstylist and thought Oscar might be a safe bet. While my husband got his haircut, I did a hair treatment because I love head massages.

Oscar did a great job styling my husband's hair after the cut, it looked really nice. Not gonna lie. But without styling, it was just okay. Not bad. What we didn't appreciate was all the personal questions and digging that the hairstylist did DURING the cut. He asked where we live twice, what we do, those sort of questions.it was uncomfortable.

I wasn't given any head massage during the treatment (which is the only reason why I wanted a hair treatment that day) so Oscar asked someone to wash my hair again to compensate the head massage (lol).

What I'm most upset about was the bill. Apparently I was charged $750 for the basic protective treatment (my hair is shoulder length) PLUS $350 for shampoo/hair dry and $50 technical fee. Whereas, my husband's bill came out to $600 and he wasn't charged shampoo/ hair dry fee. I feel like it was kind of um.arbitrary. Like I was charged for the extra hair wash because they forgot to provide me with a head massage. I don't know. I felt the stylist wasn't very honest.

It's just so hard to find honest hair stylists these days.

Under no circumstances would I ever recommend anyone come to i Private i Salon to get their hair dyed. Both the supposedly “professional” colourists and hairstylists don’t know anything about dyeing hair.

I came a while ago to get rid of the brass undertones from a previous dye-job, and the apparent solution would have been to offer me some coloured toner to neutralise the orange colour in my hair.

However, the colourist suggested to bleach my entire head to a LIGHT blonde to get rid of the brassiness, and then dye it GREEN, and then back to brown. This completely RUINED my hair — I ended up with visibly green hair that felt like straw, which they offered to fix with treatment for an extra $900 HKD.

I am still suffering from horribly dry hair and split ends more than a year later; completely regretting having paid an exorbitant amount for this ridiculous colourist to wreck my hair which turned out worse than the hair I initially came in with.

TLDR: Avoid at all costs — DO NOT pay i Private i Salon to dye your hair.

I've never been so in love with my hair. By far, the best salon i've been to in Hong Kong. I had Van colour my hair and Martin cut and style. Van did an outstanding job with the application fixing my orange hair. I left the salon with a gorgeous ash brown balayage. They were very welcoming and answered all my questions and concerns throughout the process. Thank you!
